The Pinnacle Journey©

The Pinnacle Journey© provides a pathway for life and leadership growth. Forum, Leadership Workshops, Field Experiences, Life Compass Retreats, and Community are key to the Pinnacle Journey.

Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott
“One of the best things I have done in the past couple of years is to join a Pinnacle Forum group. Like most people in leadership, I run at a quick clip. But having this group in my life ensures that my fast pace is headed in the right direction. It helps me take inventory of what matters most. It helps me recalibrate my attitudes. It helps me reset my emotional and spiritual compass. My Pinnacle Forum group refuels my soul and keeps me pressing toward God’s call.” Les Parrott, Ph.D. Founder of RealRelationships.com

The Forum is the core environment where peers come together in confidential small group settings, to challenge one another to engage the culture with the values of Jesus. The forum is a place of trust and learning. Deep friendships are developed within each forum as trust is earned.

The Pinnacle Journey© is designed to grow leaders who can effectively engage the culture with the values of Jesus as they are being personally transformed.

Pinnacle Forum Northwest Moving Forward

We are on mission! Our Northwest Chapter’s mission is to “Equip leaders to engage the culture with the values of Jesus” … Let me share a bit about what we are doing in that regard.

Forum
Presently we have 17 forums working toward that end. The forum is the back bone of our mission. When we can bring leaders together, peer to peer, in small group settings to encourage each other to grow their lives and leadership, we are on mission. We are hoping to start 10 new forums this year. We need you to pray with us about this. Our goal by the end of the year is to have 27 forums meeting throughout the Northwest.

Forum Template & Orientation
A team within the board has been working diligently to strengthen our forum template so each forum will have the “bite” it is supposed to have. At our last meeting Jerry Brown and Scott Urie shared how this is shaping up. I have attached the latest version for your input and hopefully as a tool for you to begin using within the forum. We would like to implement an orientation meeting for new forums and offer the training to existing forums too. The orientation is a way to carefully explain how each forum works and to demonstrate what can be expected in the forum. It is our hope that existing forums will take advantage of the training.

Forum Chair Connections
We are having Forum Chair Cross Training sessions every other month (see calendar). Our next meeting is slated for March 25, from 3-6 pm.. However, we are also recognizing that we need to meet on an informal basis in between these sessions. So, we will be working on developing ways to bring a few Forum Chairs together from time to time to encourage and learn from each other.

Salting the Community
1. February 5, 2010 PFNW co-sponsored a luncheon with Seattle Christian Foundation, Kiros, the Center for Business & Integrity, Ron Blue and Associates, and the Christian Legal Society for Financial Consultants around the theme of biblical wealth principles. There were about 70 in attendance. The goal was to get as many as possible enrolled in a Kingdom Advisors training session around Biblical principles.

2. February 9, 2010 PFNW co- sponsored a wonderful breakfast with Bill Pollard, former CEO of ServiceMaster (a Fortune 500 business) with the Center for Business and Integrity and Kiros. It was a significant time with about 125 in attendance. Here is one of the responses from that session: “Thank you Jon for a great event. Very meaningful to me. And very in line with what my company is trying to achieve. Good work!” Ron Worman, The SAGE GROUP

3. February 11, 2010 three PFNW board members start leading a 5 session workshop on “Doing Business God’s Way” with about 75 business leaders in Bellevue. So, our plate is full.

Priorities for Pinnacle Forum
Our mission is to equip leaders to engage the culture with the values of Jesus. With that in mind, we need to move forward intentionally in our forums. When you chair a forum, please ask yourself, “How is this session going to help these leaders move toward engaging the culture with the values of Jesus?” Are we growing in our love for Jesus? Are we growing in authenticity? Are we growing in faith? Are we growing in our love for one another? Our growth as a mission can only be as strong as our internal growth… our basic relationships.

May the Lord fill you with his life and power!

Globally focused Pinnacle Forum

A new Pinnacle Forum was launched at Northwest University on Monday December 14, with leaders doing business or mission globally. Dr. Joseph Castleberry, a Pinnacle Partner noted that business leaders were moving to the forefront in mission. The Seattle area has a reputation of being entrepreneurial and many international Christian leaders believe Seattle has been uniquely positioned to bring God's grace to the world. One international export/import businessman mentioned that over a thirty year period Seattle has gone from a relatively unknown city to a prominent world city. The first forum discussion centered on the concept of "Seattle the entrepreneurial city and the meaning for bringing change to the world. Two major themes surfaced during the forum were, the role of business in developing infrastructure for the two thirds world and the need for business leaders to develop strong personal relationships that help grow their life and leadership around the values of Jesus.

Leaders engaging the culture with the values of Jesus
If Leaders are to engage the culture with the values of Jesus it requires a clear picture of what that leader should look like. When we think of leaders who bring about change we think of people like Martin Luther King Jr., Mother Teresa, William Wilberforce, and of course the penultimate example, Jesus Christ.

As we think of developing leaders who live, lead, and love like Jesus we realize this is going to take God’s grace and power. However, we also realize if we don’t take action and move forward effectively helping leaders grow their life and leadership so they faithfully represent Jesus, we will never see the hoped for change within our culture and the cultures of the world that we so desperately long for.

As we help leaders grow their life and leadership, we will need to help them develop excellent leadership skills, strong character, a biblical world view, and a spiritual life vitally connected to Jesus Christ and led by the Holy Spirit. Pinnacle Forum as an organization seeks to participate with God’s movement as leaders are equipped to live a life committed to God’s reign through them.

We see three areas where we can help leaders grow:1. ForumLeaders need a safe relational harbor-the forum/a relational grounding for leaders/

2. Leadership Workshops
Leaders need a Knowledge base-/Biblical Worldview/Transformational Leadership/Values of Jesus/Understanding of culture/Ethics & Integrity/ Capacity building/

3. Leadership Field Experience  (adult learning)/Understand a variety of cultural contexts/understand their Gifting/passion/capacity

4. Life Compass Retreat
Leaders need to reflect on their life and leadership and plan for future mission

Q-3 Three Defining Questions-our operating systemWho am I?
Who is God?
What am I going to do with the rest of my life?

Chairing a forum

________________________________________
"Stop giving advice!"

Forum Chairs are special people since they have to practice what they preach! Each forum is a unique group of leaders seeking to fulfill their God given mission in their sphere of influence. As a forum chair, you facilitate that purpose.

Forum chairs are not "tellers" but seek to ask good questions, draw others out, and listen deeply as other leaders unpack their challenges and their joys.

The peer forum is a safe harbor for leaders who need one place in their life where they can be free to discuss anything. This is why we have every participant sign a Confidentiality Agreement.

As a forum chair you create this environment. You skillfully think about tools that will help leaders open up, think creatively, and ultimately take powerful, God inspired action!

Tools for good forums
1. The 2 Minute Drill "Check In" where everyone gets a chance to give updates on their life... Challenges and joys
2. Assessing and identifying one key issue that may have surfaced in the update
3. Is there anything God may be speaking to us about through his word, a book, our marriage, our work place, our friends?
4. Resist telling participants what to do or giving them 5 steps to happiness!
5. Move from the head to the heart or from theory to practice... "What are you going to do?"
6. Call for action steps based on our forum today
7. Once a month have someone tell their story
8. Do stuff together

Forums are designed for leaders like you. We carefully place leaders together with peers where you connect in an environment of trust where the real issues of life are on the table.
